Bushfire Assessments

A bushfire assessment is required to determine the potential impacts a development may experience in a bushfire event, and provide advice on how to mitigate and reduce these impacts.

An assessment is required where the subject site is located within a bushfire-prone area, and the nature of the development requires consideration and assessment of any risk.

A bushfire-prone area, is an area where a bushfire event has the potential to occur, based on its proximity and separation to vegetation which may be considered as a threat.

Development needs to be constructed in accordance with the assessed BAL rating, whilst recommendations relating to water, access and hazard management areas (HMA) need to be followed and implemented.
